week as technology, semiconductor, biotechnology,
and nearly every sector rose. Volume was very
heavy, as the NASDAQ closed with a volume
of 2.13 billion shares traded, the second
highest on record. Advancing issues outstripped
decliners about 3 to 1.
-
US Labor department reported that nonfarm
payroll for February rose a meager 43,000
- Economist were expecting 206,000. This is
a strong sign that the economy is cooling
off.

February Unemployment rate, a strong measure
of inflation, rose 0.1% to 4.0%. Economist
were forecasting 4.0%. Average Hourly wage
rose 0.3% to $13.53, in line with expectations;
this all means the economy is slowing enough
to tame inflation, and possibly the Federal
Reserve may hold off on an Interest rate hike;
please visit our The
Federal Reserve Monetary Policy Watch
page for more details.
-
Microsoft reported that it has sold a whopping
500,000 units of Windows 2000 since its debut
on February 17th; visit our Quarterly
Forecast to read more on our detailed
Microsoft projections.
-

in a minority stake in Next Level Communications.
-
Oil futures closed lower by 18 cents to $31.51
per barrel, in reaction to US Energy Secretary
Bill Richardson's comments that the strategic
oil reserves are being considered in hopes
of alleviating the oil problems.
-
Airline Stocks performed very well due to
