BEHIND THE PICKS
-
After today's very limited profit taking
and and really no bad news getting into
the weekend, we are expecting the markets
to rally next business day. All said and
done, the slew of financial stocks and Intel
reporting earnings next Tuesday will determine
how the markets behave in the first part
of the week.
-
Yahoo! lowering its 2001 estimates is to
say the least, a good move due to the uncertain
conditions with the economy. Some analysts
have insisted that Yahoo! doesn't want to
admit it can't grow its advertisement base
due to Dot Com failures, but will rather
blame it on a slowing economy. Really? Unless
you have been on Mars these past 3 months,
you would have noticed that even the most
respected names in technology and other
sectors have issued earnings warnings and
announced plans to cut back as the economy
continues to slow. Basic economics dictates
companies will cut expenses, including advertisement,
in other to stay afloat. What makes Yahoo!
so different that it can't claim a slowdown
due to the slowing economy? We continue
to recommend Yahoo! as one of our top picks,
and actually expect an upside surprise by
Q2 2001.
-
Be on the lookout for more technology stocks
rally and stock buybacks from technology
and Internet powerhouses like AOL, Ariba,
Inktomi, Microsoft, Nortel Networks, PMC-Sierra,
Qualcomm, Yahoo!, etc.
- BARGAINS
ANYONE?
- REITERATION:
The battered Technology, Internet, and Biotechnology
stocks ARE very attractive now. Non-PC chip
makers, and networking gear companies especially.
We are still holding our picks though. Give
us your views on this observation

- STOCKS
TO WATCH NEXT MARKET DAY: Technology Biotechnology,
and Internet Infrastructures stocks are
a bargain.
