Buy gained 5.14% after reporting fiscal Q3 profits
due to brisk sales in video games, digital TVs,
and DVD sales.

Circuit
City gained 0.66% after reporting fiscal Q3 profits
due to its cost cutting and marketing that seems
to have slowed customer defections to Best Buy.

Contract
Electronics Manufacturer (CEM) Solectron lost 18.30%
after reporting fiscal Q2 losses. Solectron, whose
credit has been downgraded to junk bond status by
the leading credit rating agencies, is going to
borrow $2 billion so as to meet short-term obligations.

Lennar
gained 6.67% after raising its guidance today.

Dupont
gained 2.61% and helped chemical shares to close
higher after Merrill Lynch upgraded it to a "strong
buy" recommendation.

T3
Energy Services gained 1084.21% (not a misprint)
after acquiring Houston rival, Industrial Holdings.
The combined companies started trading today as
T3 Energy Services.

GE
gained 3.71% after its new CEO Jeff Immelt laid
out an aggressive expansion plan for 2002 and 2003
that will include further acquisitions. GE expects
a turnaround in 2003.

Security
firm Interlogix gained 34.55% after GE unit, GE
Industrial Systems, agreed to acquire for $777 million
in cash and stocks.

The

Holdings gained after announcing that its bookings
business has improved.

CLOSE: Motorola is losing in after hours trading
after announcing another round of 9,400 job cuts,
and warning that its Q1 losses will be bigger than
Wall Street estimates. Motorola also announced that
it is getting out of the chip manufacturing business.

AFTER
CLOSE: Tibco Software is gaining in after hours
trading after reporting fiscal Q4 earnings and sales
that beat First Call estimates.

AFTER
CLOSE: Micron Technology is losing in after hours
trading after reporting fiscal Q1 losses that were
5 cents a share wider than Wall Street expected,
while revenue also missed Wall Street estimates
by $47.2 million.

AFTER
CLOSE Red Hat is still gaining in after hours trading
after reporting fiscal Q3 earnings of 1 cent a share,
and for the quarter, revenue rose 2% above fiscal
Q2 to $21.5 million.

AFTER
CLOSE: 3Com is still gaining after reporting fiscal
Q2 losses of 14 cents a share, well better than
the 22 cents a share First Call was expecting.

CLOSE: Triquint Semiconductor is still losing after
lowering its fiscal Q4 earnings outlook again!.

gained 1.73% after announcing that it will meet
its estimates for the year. GE sees 2002 and 2003
growth of at least 10%. GE also announced today
that it acquired the Tensor operations of Honeywell
International. Honeywell lost 0.57%.

USA
Networks gained 5.04% after selling its entertainment
unit to Vivendi Universal for $10.3 billion. Under
the terms of the deal, Barry Diller will head a
new company called Vivendi Universal Entertainment,
and will be reporting to Vivendi Universal CEO and
Chairman Messier. Vivendi-Universal gained 6.44%
and pushed other media shares higher.

Immunex
gained 13.43% after Amgen agreed to pay $16 billion
for it. Amgen gained 6.18%.

Dynegy
lost 12.99% after announcing a $1.25 billion restructuring
plan.
-
Oil
stocks and prices performed well after Norway confirmed
it is cutting production by 150,000 barrels a day.
Analysts think OPEC might end up getting its 1.5
million a barrel production it was expecting from
OPEC and non-OPEC producers.

stated that the Software giant is about to acquire
a 3.2% stake in Korea's fixed line telecommunications
giant, KT Corp. Microsoft also signed a deal with
BMI to use its music on MSN™'s pay music download
site.

Industries gained 24.29% after agreeing to a merger
with Conexant Systems. Conexant Systems gained 4.48%.

Hunt Transport gained 14.96% after CS First Boston
upgraded it to a "buy" recommendation.

Carnival
lost 1.72% after making a hostile bid of $4.6 billion
for P&O Princess Cruises. P&O Princess Cruises
is prefers a merger of equals with Royal Caribbean,
which could create a behemoth that will be bigger
than Carnival Cruises. Carnival Cruises' offer is
$1 billion above the value of a combined P&O
Princess and Royal Caribbean. P&O Princess gained
5.66%, while Royal Caribbean lost 11.70%.

Equivest
Finance gained 136% after Cendant agreed to acquire
it for $98 million.

Take
Two gained 31.27% despite announcing that it will
restate its 2000 and parts of 2001 finances. Take
Two expects fiscal Q1 2002 to be even stronger than
Wall Street estimates.

which excludes the energy and food sectors, rose
a surprising 0.4% for the period.

Business Inventories declined 1.4% in October, while
Business Sales rose 2.7% for the period, thus pushing
the Inventory-to-Sales Ratio down sharply to 1.39.

gained 1.62% after its power systems unit acquired
software developer IDAX. GE also announced that
it is raising its dividend by 13%, and increasing
its stock buyback by $8 billion. In another development,
GE's TV network, NBC, signed a deal with Diageo
of the UK to start advertising liquor advertisements
on its network, after decades of a self imposed
ban.

Broadcom
gained 1.93% after a US District Court in Delaware
denied Intel the $82 million damages it was seeking
from Broadcom. Intel gained 2.15%.

Bellsouth
gained 0.36% after announcing its intentions to
cut 1,200 technical and clerical jobs in the 9 states
it operates in by March of next year.

gained 10.27% after CNBC reported that Amgen is
in talks to acquire the rival biotechnology company
for about $18 billion. Amgen lost 6.52%.

Isis
Pharmaceuticals gained 14.83% after announcing a
strategic research alliance with Amgen. On the whole,
the biotechnology sector did pretty well today.

Today: Prudential Financial closed 6.55% above its
offering price.

Willamette
Industries gained 7.14% after Weyerheauser Industries
raised its bid for Willamette so as to block its
acquisition deal with Georgia Pacific. Weyerheauser
lost 0.68%, while Georgia Pacific lost 1.57%.

Ciena
and Lucent Technologies lost 16.86% and 15.65% respectively
after both issued earnings warnings.

after reporting fiscal Q4 earnings that missed Wall
Street estimates.

CLOSE: Oracle is gaining in after hours trading
after reporting fiscal Q2 earnings that met First
Call estimates. Oracle also stated that its fiscal
Q3 earnings and revenue will be lower, but is expecting
a stellar fiscal Q4.

CLOSE: Drug maker Bristol Myers Squibb warned about
next year's profits. Bristol Myers now joins Merck
& Co., which warned yesterday (about 36 hours
ago).

CLOSE: Tektronix reported fiscal Q2 earnings that
beat First Call estimates. Sales rose 13% for the
quarter. Tektronix however, expects fiscal Q3 sales
to decline by 37%.

CLOSE: Calpine is losing in after hours trading
after Moody's Investor Services announced that it
is putting the utility company on review for a possible
credit ratings downgrade.

gained 3.91% after offering to acquire HotJobs.Com
for $436 million in cash and stocks. Yahoo!'s offer
is a 62% premium on the closing prices, and 6% higher
than what TMP Worldwide, the parent of Monster.Com,
is offering for HotJobs. HotJobs.Com gained 2.70%,
while TMP Worldwide lost 0.29%. Other online job
sites rallied.

and OfficeMax both gained after announcing a strategic
alliance to provide services to small businesses.

Merck
& Co. lost 3.59% and took drug shares down with
it after warning about flat sales and earnings for
the current period, and the future. Merck's patent
rights to some drugs are expiring quicker than new
drugs can replace them.

Today: Netscreen Technologies, a network security
company, closed 48.25% above its offering price.

stocks gained today, including Calpine, which started

gained 7.92% after signing a bundling agreement
for its RealOne™ software and subscription service
with Compaq. Compaq gained 3.16%.

CLOSE: Procter & Gamble (P&G) announced
that it expects its earnings for Q4 to come in at
the top end of the forecast.

CLOSE: American Express announced that it is cutting
5,500 to 5,600 jobs, and lowered its Q4 earnings

Industries announced that it has started talks with
Georgia-Pacific about acquiring Georgia-Pacific's
building products business. Weyerhaeuser issued
a statement warning that it will take any action
it deems necessary if Willamette continues to talk
with other companies. All 3 wood products related
companies closed lower.
